The record number of scores posted by the more than 3.68 million golfers with a Handicap Index® in the U.S. last year, according to the USGA 2025 Golf Scorecard. Of that total number, 69.96 million scores (85.1%) were posted by male golfers, while female golfers posted 12.29 million scores (14.9%).
Additionally, the data further dispelled the notion that a Handicap Index is only for golfers who are playing in elite competitions, as 94.4% of the over 82 million rounds posted were recreational and more than 75% of all golfers with a Handicap Index were playing and posting purely for fun.
