Brad Syslo
A champion for club-fitting
When Brad Syslo first joined custom-fitting company Club Champion in November 2018, his mission was clear: to build and lead the organization’s Club Champion University. An intensive, four-week onboarding program, CCU has been created for the company’s master fitters.
To this day, Syslo’s mission remains steadfast, as he continually evolves CCU’s curriculum to steadily enhance it. While reflecting on the past few years, he is especially appreciative of the opportunity he’s had to help shape the next generation of fitters – an opportunity he considers to be a career-defining journey.
That journey began in 2001 as a PGA assistant golf professional. After serving at two Chicago-area clubs, he worked for TaylorMade and Wilson Golf in multiple roles that included club-fitting responsibilities. At Wilson, he helped film the second season of Golf Channel’s “Driver vs. Driver” series. Seeking a top club fitter to speak to, he reached out to Club Champion co-founder Nick Sherburne and his team.
“Nick and I connected about the future of fitting, training and his rapidly growing business,” Syslo said. “Later that summer, he invited me to play golf, which turned into a visit to observe Club Champion’s training firsthand.”
After visiting with Sherburne and fellow co-founder Joe Lee, Syslo realized that his passion for fitting and teaching was a perfect match for Club Champion. Before long, he began the next chapter of his journey.
“In the early years, I wore multiple hats, from running training to helping shape our sales structure as a regional sales director,” he explained. “Over time, we’ve built a strong internal structure, allowing me to double down on evaluating CCU and ensuring our fitters are the best in the business.”
“My closeness to what our fitters experience keeps me sharp as a leader and teacher. I also take a lot of pride in mentoring our fitters and watching their skills – and confidence – grow.”
As a result, he’s able to focus solely on CCU, which he considers his No. 1 priority. To train elite fitters, Syslo is focused on ensuring his CCU team has all of the confidence, knowledge and tools they need to provide the most effective fitting experience possible.
Aside from training fitters, one other aspect of his current role especially stands out: his ability to be “in the bay” nearly every day. In particular, Syslo loves helping golfers learn how to play their best. Because every golfer is different, he believes every fitting is a new puzzle, one that ensures he learns something new during every session.
In addition to helping golfers of all abilities, Syslo is focused on being fully involved with his master fitters’ daily responsibilities. By doing so, he can mentor them and enhance his own skills for the future.
“My closeness to what our fitters experience keeps me sharp as a leader and teacher,” he emphasized. “I also take a lot of pride in mentoring our fitters and watching their skills – and confidence – grow.”
Because of his passion, dedication and results, Syslo was recently named Club Champion’s Fitter of the Year for 2025.
“This award validates years of hard work – not just refining my craft but passing that knowledge on to others too,” he said. “It’s both humbling and energizing.”
Even after earning this prestigious award, Syslo remains as committed to learning as ever.
“I want to continue elevating the fitting experience, and I want Club Champion to remain the No. 1 fitter in golf,” he concluded. “I’m proud to help lead that charge.”
