The Florida State Golf Association is many things: A collection of 338,000 golfers and more than 800 member clubs; a volunteer organization with 500 individuals who are tournament officials, course raters and assist with junior and amateur golf events; an organization that conducts more than 550 tournament days and more than 40 state championships each year; a philanthropic group that provides more than $700,000 in grants to local junior golf programs each year; and the largest handicapping organization in American golf.
In addition, the FSGA is also deeply involved in golf travel in multiple ways. First, by dint of geography, Florida is one of the world’s most desirable golf destinations, and many of the FSGA’s member clubs are resorts or daily fee courses that regularly welcome visiting golfers. Second, the vibrant golfing membership of the FSGA is itself a force in travel, with members regularly traveling throughout the country and the world to play the game. And third, the FSGA runs a number of golf trips for its members each year, helping put together trips that highlight some of the sport’s most iconic destinations.
These many factors led to the creation of this publication, FSGA Traveler, to help connect golfers with destinations for their golf getaways. We’ve collected information and insights on a number of resorts and geographic areas that you may be interested in visiting. It’s our way of encouraging you to get out and enjoy all the good vibes that golf travel can bring. You’re reading our inaugural Spring 2024 issue, and you can look forward to seeing the next edition this fall.
We hope you enjoy FSGA Traveler as another benefit of FSGA membership, and we wish you safe travels and plenty of great golf along the way!
