Florida’s neighbors to the north and east – Georgia and South Carolina – provide a Goldilocks golf getaway option: Not too close and not too far away, but just right.
The Sea Pines Resort is a bucket list destination for many, and a PGA Tour mainstay.
Take two of Georgia’s top golf destinations: Reynolds Lake Oconee and McLemore. Reynolds, located between Atlanta and Augusta, is a time-honored landing spot with six outstanding golf courses, plenty of lakeside activities and a variety of accommodations – from an opulent Ritz-Carlton to cozy rental homes and cottages. At the northern end of the state, near the Tennessee and Alabama borders, is McLemore, one of the hottest new properties in golf. Situated at 2,500 feet on Lookout Mountain, the property features the new Cloudland hotel to go with the renowned Highland Course, and The Keep course coming on line in late 2024 features endless views that must be seen to be believed.
If you’d like to travel slightly farther afield, South Carolina boasts some of the most well-stocked golf areas in the Southeast. The Lowcountry Golf Course Owner’s Association offers a passbook program for discounts around the Hilton Head Island area, home to The Sea Pines Resort and its famed Harbour Town Golf Links. Up the coast lies Myrtle Beach, home to more than 90 golf courses at a variety of price points. Whichever option you choose, you don’t have to go very far to find great golf and good values.
