The days have begun to get shorter, as we trudge along toward winter in the Chicago District. Despite colder temperatures, there’s still plenty of time to get that last bit out of the golf season. Before the impending offseason arrives, it’s important to keep a variety of information regarding score posting and offseason dates front of mind. See below for some highlights:
To better align with neighboring states, the CDGA announced earlier in 2024 that, moving forward, it would extend the active score posting season in the Chicago District to March 15 - Nov. 14 (the former active season was April 1 - Oct. 31). The World Handicap System™ states - “A score is acceptable for handicap purposes if the round has been played on a golf course during its active season.” This means that scores from any round played at a club within the Chicago District after Nov. 14 and before March 15 are NOT to be posted for handicap purposes, regardless of how good the weather might be. If CDGA members play golf during the winter months in areas of the country that are considered “in season” (eg. Florida, Arizona, Southern California, etc.), those scores ARE to be posted for handicap purposes. Regardless of date and location, acceptable scores can be posted through your My CDGA Caddie on CDGA.org or through the My CDGA app.
This offseason, there are plenty of important dates for CDGA members to take note of and numerous ways to utilize your membership during the winter months. See below for a listing of key dates to highlight:
