CDGA member clubs took center stage in the first issue of 1994. Various “hidden gems” from throughout the Chicago District were spotlighted, as well as Chicago Golf Club’s No. 7 as a “Great Golf Hole of the CDGA.” The issue was also comprised of profiles on Steve Lesnik of KemperLesnik and Marge Gage, a frequent Sunset Ridge club champion.
The CDGA became an octogenarian in 1994 and celebrated in a variety of ways as part of this edition. In addition to reflecting on the Association’s various accomplishments and milestones over the course of eight decades, a handful of 80-plus-year-old members were spotlighted.
Chicago District Golfer continued the commemoration of the CDGA’s 80th birthday with a recap of the anniversary dinner that was held in July of 1994. As part of the dinner, three individuals were bestowed the Association’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award. Each recipient - Roy Anderson, Marlene Miller and Ken Venturi - was profiled in this celebratory edition.
