Over the course of 15 years, the annual CDGA Foundation Golf Marathon raised more than $1 million for the CDGA’s adaptive, therapeutic and youth Sunshine Programs that serve disabled and veteran communities. In 2024, the event has been reimagined in hopes of expanding that impact for decades to come.
Consistent in 2024 will be the event’s timing and host site, as it is slated for Saturday, May 18 at Zigfield Troy Golf in Woodridge. Most elements of the event have been modified, however, including:
· Name: The event is now called the Better Through Birdies Par-3 Challenge
· Format: Players will participate as two-person teams as opposed to individuals. Instead of playing 100 holes, they will now play 50 holes, or as many as possible in four hours
· Fundraising: In addition to the ability to collect flat donations as in years past, participants can now collect pledges for each birdie made during the event
· Impact: Funds raised in previous iterations would broadly support CDGA Sunshine Programs. The 2024 iteration, however, specifically will fund the CDGA Youth Membership and subsidies to local courses for $5-or-less Youth on Course rounds
