Typically almost halfway through the season when the calendar hits May, CDGA Fantasy Golf presented by Tour Edge is just getting started in 2024. With the slate now consisting of two added majors in the form of the U.S. Women’s Open and the AIG British Women’s Open, the race for the CDGA Cup and the season-long grand prize is sure to be more competitive than ever. A word of advice for those participating in the free, member-exclusive series: don’t forget about Scottie Scheffler or Nelly Korda whenever possible.
The 2024 season began in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida for the playing of The Players Championship in mid-March, where the aforementioned Scheffler bested the field by one stroke to collect his second-consecutive win on the PGA Tour. Joining him in the winner’s circle was CDGA member Brian Wrona, whose team consisted of six of the event’s top 10, as he finished five shots clear of the field at -143. Wrona earned 26 CDGA Cup points with the victory.
Less than a month later, CDGA member Craig Bonda celebrated as Scheffler donned his second green jacket in his young career, and fourth of five-straight top-two finishes, as it helped Bonda secure a one-shot victory. Along with the champion, Bonda’s squad included four of the top-five competitors in this year’s Masters. He added 26 CDGA Cup points to the 10.15 he had earned from his 106th-place finish in The Players to take a slim lead into the third event of the season. Joe Giaccone, though with no wins under his belt thus far, has finished within the top seven in both contests and is just 0.15 points shy of Bonda.
CDGA Fantasy Golf presented by Tour Edge continues this month with the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, where Scheffler, who finished tied for second a year ago at Oak Hill, and the rest of the field will aim to stop Brooks Koepka’s title defense. Also beginning at the end of the month is the U.S. Women’s Open, which will serve as the first women’s competition in CDGA Fantasy Golf history. Fresh off her second major title and fifth-consecutive triumph at the Chevron Championship in April, Korda is sure to be one of many vying for the title at Lancaster Country Club.
