Nearly 2,000 pet owners from around the U.S. descended on the Denver suburb on Feb. 3—National Golden Retriever Day—for the community’s fourth meetup, using the unseasonably chilly weather as an excuse to sip warm “puppuccinos” and dress their dogs up in cozy canine clothes. “We had a guy from Florida whose dog had never seen snow, so that was really cool to see him jumping up and biting at it,” says event founder Joy Meadows, who describes the day as a “doggy Woodstock.” The festivities included a meet and greet, pup-friendly deals at local shops and restaurants, and a one-of-a-kind photo op under the town’s iconic welcome arch. Adds Meadows: “It’s just a real celebration of the dog.”
