ver since the pandemic, golf courses have been even more careful about cleanliness around the facility. One brand that many clubs have come to rely on is Bioesque, which produces a multitude of solutions that sanitize, disinfect, clean and deodorize.
PGA Magazine recently caught up with Chris Ure, the South Florida-based company’s Chief Financial Officer, to find out more about how Bioesque is servicing PGA of America Golf Professionals.
What Bioesque products are most used at golf facilities, and how do they help PGA of America Golf Professionals and staffs do their jobs?
Chris Ure: We have an exceptionally broad range of products for both general cleaning and disinfecting, as well as highly specialized formulations developed for unique situations. However, the products most commonly used at golf facilities include our botanical disinfectant, heavy duty cleaner and degreaser, bioenzymatic odor neutralizer, waterless wash and wax, and our green seal certified cleaning concentrates.
Our products are designed to get the job done right the first time. Essentially, if used properly for the appropriate application, Bioesque products enhance productivity, reduce the harmful impact on your physical plant, and can be used with confidence that you are making the right choice in getting the job done.
How do Bioesque’s products differ from other like products on the market?
Ure: For starters, our products work. They are best in class and are formulated with the highest quality ingredients, or they do not have the name Bioesque on the label. Wherever possible, we utilize eco-friendly, safer choice materials in our research and development process, which we believe is indeed a differentiator.
How can choosing environmentally friendly cleaning supplies help a golf facility improve its image?
Ure: Choosing environmentally friendly, safer choice products demonstrates that you as an organization care. You care not just about the environment but also the health and safety of your staff, members and community as a whole. It also shows you recognize and respect the investment made in your facilities by mitigating exposure to harsh, toxic and corrosive chemicals and the negative impact they can have on the longevity of your physical plant. Thankfully, with the help of Bioesque, you can do this without ever sacrificing performance.
How much of a boost to business was the pandemic for Bioesque? Was that a turning point for the company, while courses were keeping everything as clean as possible?
Ure: The pandemic was certainly one of the worst disasters ever to impact the world, let alone the U.S. We were immensely proud to have been in a position to help keep many businesses open and many government facilities and essential services functioning. We were also able to do this with- out ever raising prices and without any meaningful supply chain disruptions.
This was a testament to the incredible team of employees, suppliers and logistic service providers we have built through our dedication to doing the right thing not always the most profitable thing. Our reputation and superior quality products were undoubtedly recognized by the market and our business certainly reflected that with a significant boost.
Personally, I believe the turning point you reference was the acceleration of our marketing and branding efforts because of the number of people in so many different industries that became aware of Bioesque as a result of the pandemic. The golf industry was definitely one of those industries. All of this has helped open the door for us to demonstrate the considerable value our entire product portfolio represents and the opportunities to grow with the golf industry as a key part of our strategy.
When you visit a golf course to play, do you just naturally check out how the staff is cleaning their equipment and facility? Has that ever led to business?
Ure: Absolutely every time. And it certainly is not limited only to golf courses. So, if you see my name on the tee sheet, I am not there to sell you something. It is kind of a natural thing to do for any business owner or representative and sometimes engaging in a conversation at the moment is sensible. But most of the time I will usually pass along any insights to one of our associates or a local distributor. We have indeed been able to open new doors and develop relationships by engaging directly with golf professionals on their turf. However, I am a diehard golf nut, so when I do finally get a chance to tee it up that is my primary focus.
How did you initially get involved with the company?
Ure: My partners and I came together about 10 years ago with a common recognition and belief that there simply had to be a better and safer way to clean, disinfect and protect facilities and surfaces in every industry. We set out to do just that and we are committed to achieving this every day, even knowing this is a mission that, by definition, never is truly over.
We continue to invest heavily in re- search and development and have brought many new products to market in the brief 10-year history of our company. It is this passion that initially piqued my interest and continues to fuel and energize our entire team.
