The second class of the Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) Hall of Fame was inducted during a ceremony held Aug. 28 at Cantigny Golf in Wheaton. The following six individuals were honored for their contributions to junior golf:
A three-time PGA Tour winner from Barrington, Hallberg (right) also had an impressive amateur career in IJGA, CDGA and collegiate events at Wake Forest. He was presented by Steve Green (left) of the IJGA and CDGA boards.
Slovitt was an extremely avid IJGA board member and supporter, with the trophy awarded to each year’s Illinois State Junior Amateur winner being named in his honor. Slovitt, who passed in 2006, was represented by his family.
A longtime IJGA board member and head men’s golf coach at DePaul, Kaufmann (right) also served on the CDGA board. She was presented by former Blue Demon Jonathan Goldstein (left).
Since 2007, the family’s Makray Memorial Golf Club has been host of the Illinois State Junior Amateur Championship. The facility, originally purchased by Paul Sr., is now operated by his son, Paul Jr. (right). He was presented by 2024 State Junior champ Owen Coniaris (left).
Weeks (left) has overseen the development of more than 95 players who earned Division I scholarships as an instructor at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club. One of those students, Ben Sluzas (right) presented Weeks for induction.
The late Ulseth was hired as the IJGA’s first paid executive director in 1992 and made countless lasting impacts on the organization. He was presented by Dan McGuire (left), who succeeded Ulseth in the executive director role, and former IJGA board member / CDGA Past President Steve Becker (right).
