ounded in 1914, the Chicago District Golf Association was developed on a number of distinct pillars. While the administration of many of those has changed hands as the game has evolved over the last century-plus, one remains under the CDGA’s rule, as the 113th season of high-level amateur competitions around the Chicago District is set to begin this month. The 2026 slate is highlighted by 10 multi-day competitions and a single-day Ryder Cup-style contest pitting the top CDGA amateurs against Illinois PGA professionals, known as the Radix Cup, in June.
“We are excited to once again showcase the most outstanding players in the Chicago District on some of the highest quality golf courses in the area,” said Will Cawthon, the CDGA’s Director of Rules and Championships. “We are incredibly grateful to have such a strong lineup of host sites, and we look forward to identifying the best of the best across all 10 of our Championships.”
The calendar begins in the far-north suburbs at Glen Flora Country Club. The Waukegan-based club has become a staple on the CDGA’s slate in recent years, hosting the CDGA Amateur and CDGA Amateur Four-Ball Championships in consecutive seasons starting in 2022. Glen Flora will now welcome the 11th playing of the CDGA Mid-Amateur Championship, May 11-13. The year’s opening event will mark Lombard native Jordan Less’ first of two CDGA-administered title defenses after winning the CDGA Mid-Amateur and Illinois State Amateur Championships in 2025.
Returning to the CDGA’s schedule for a third-consecutive year after decades of success under the Illinois Women’s Golf Association’s counsel, the 93rd Illinois State Women’s Amateur Championship will head to Elgin Country Club June 1-3. It’s one of two multi-day women’s competitions that the CDGA will again oversee, with the 57th Illinois State Senior Women’s Amateur Championship set for Kankakee Country Club this October.
Annual staples on the CDGA agenda again include the 106th CDGA Amateur Championship, slated for the famed North Shore Country Club in Glenview, June 22-25. The club has served as host to a plethora of premier events, including the 1928 Western Open, 1933 U.S. Open and 1983 U.S. Amateur, amongst others. The following month, the state’s top amateurs will head to Central Illinois and Crestwicke Country Club for the 95th Illinois State Amateur Championship, July 14-16. Crestwicke has thrice hosted the State Am and past champions on the Lawrence Packard design include PGA Tour winners Gary Hallberg and Dave Ogrin.
The season also features a pair of two-person four-ball championships, with the 11th CDGA Amateur Four-Ball Championship heading to the renowned Skokie Country Club in late July and the 11th CDGA Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championship visiting Chicago’s Ridgemoor Country Club to round out the calendar in early October. The historic tracks have hosted prominent champions throughout the years, with Gene Sarazen claiming the U.S. Open at Skokie in 1922 and Ben Hogan taking home the lone Hale America National Open at Ridgemoor in 1942.
In total, the 2026 CDGA Championship and Women’s Competition schedule will feature nearly 60 events - 10 multi-day Illinois State/CDGA Championships, 28 Illinois State/CDGA qualifiers, 20 USGA qualifiers and the 64th Radix Cup Matches.
