Diddy (left) reportedly considered Cudi (right) a romantic rival.
During the second week of Sean “Diddy” Combs’s sex trafficking trial in New York City, Grammy-winning rapper Kid Cudi—who once dated Diddy’s former girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura—testified on May 22 about the day in 2012 when an explosive device was used to destroy his Porsche in L.A. Cudi, 41, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, told jurors he got a call from his dog-sitter saying his car was on fire: “I immediately went to my house. The top of my Porsche was cut open, and that’s where they inserted the Molotov cocktail.” Asked about his reaction, he recalled thinking, “What the f---?”
In testimony on May 14, Ventura, 38, claimed Combs, 55, became jealous when he learned that she and Mescudi had dated and threatened to have Mescudi’s car blown up. Combs’ team has asked that Cudi’s testimony about the explosion and claims that Combs was behind it be struck from the record. Combs has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking, racketeering and other charges. —PATRICK ROGERS
