Oceania Cruises
With cruises to more than 600 marquee and remote ports in more than 100 countries on seven continents, Oceania Cruises is steadfast that the future of the cruise industry is intertwined with the health of the oceans and destinations they visit. Guided by the premise that driving a positive impact on society and the environment allows businesses to thrive, the line’s “Sail & Sustain†program centers around five pillars: reducing environmental impact, sailing safely, strengthening our communities, empowering people, and operating with integrity and accountability.
Goal: Global Sustainability
Reducing environmental impact extends from the leadership at Oceania Cruises’ parent company NCLH to the officers, staff and crew aboard their eight small, luxurious ships. To that end, the brand continually seeks out pioneering technologies to improve its environmental performance. For example, all ships serve Vero still and sparkling water. Vero’s proprietary purification process removes contaminants from tap water and is the gold standard, enabling Oceania Cruises to save an estimated three million plastic water bottles per year.
The health, safety and well-being of guests and crew is paramount at Oceania Cruises and this tenant extends to the global destinations it visits. Accordingly, a stringent 24/7/365 public health and safety program is in place to maintain a healthy, safe and clean environment, fleetwide. The company works with government public health officials to not only meet strict guidelines but to exceed them, with unannounced ship audits and inspections by regulatory agencies regularly carried out.

Strengthening Communities
By strengthening relationships with ports, governments and nonprofit organizations, Oceania Cruises seeks to maximize the social, economic and environmental benefit to the destinations it visits. Its “Go Green†shore excursions, for example, showcase the ways local communities conserve, sustain and elevate their surroundings. Similarly, its “Go Local†excursions are in-depth destination tours that enable guests to immerse themselves in the region’s cultural fabric.
Most recently, Oceania Cruises announced a three-year alliance with the American Cancer Society (ACS) by which guests can participate in the very first “Relay for Life at Sea†initiative to support and contribute to ACS. The meaningful initiative was launched on Vista and Insignia with additional ships to be added this year.
In 2023, Oceania Cruises redefined its corporate commitment to empowering its team members. This core pillar allows the brand to attract and retain top talent, while simultaneously providing robust career development opportunities that ultimately result in significant value. In fact, NCLH has been recognized by Forbes on its 2023 list of “World’s Best Employers.â€
Last, but by no means least, Oceania Cruises’ commitment to operating with integrity and accountability is part of the brand’s DNA. Their corporate governance system, guided by the highest standards of transparency, mandates that Board directors and executive management build a culture of trust, respect and confidence with key stakeholders, including team members, suppliers, guests, and investors.
