Industry veteran Mike Wells passed away on Sept. 11, 2025, in Duluth, Minnesota. He was 83 years old.
Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Wells graduated from Purdue University with a mechanical engineering and economics degree. While pursuing a law degree at George Washington University in 1967, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1972.
After being honorably discharged, he moved back to Kenosha and began his career at Frank L. Wells Co. He was involved in purchasing, sales, and the development of systems.
Mike Wells was promoted to the position of vice president and, upon the death of Bob Wells, was elected president of the company.
In 1980, he bought the company Eleven States so the business could enter the upholstery industry with zigzag springs, a new line the company produced. That same year, Frank L. Wells Co. started working with Max Schreiner GmbH & Co. KG but only sold products from Eleven States. In 2001, Max Schreiner became the full agent for all products from Frank L. Wells.
In addition to all his years of work, Mike Wells donated much of his time to boards and charities such as the Kenosha Recognition Association, 306 Club, Kenosha Area Business Alliance, Kemper Center, and Kenosha Savings & Loan Bank. He also mentored others. Rest well, Mike.
