The National Golf Foundation recently surveyed core golfers about Tee It Forward, the USGA and PGA of America’s joint initiative to encourage golfers to play from tees that best suited their game. Tee It Forward began 10 years ago, and according to the survey only 30% of U.S. golfers joined the movement and moved up a set of tees.
However, of those who did move up, 80% of them said they had more fun playing their favorite courses from shorter distances! Isn’t that the main reason we amateurs play the game: to have fun? It should be, anyway. Also telling was the 75% of golfers who said they scored better after they moved up a set of tees.
If you’ve yet to Tee It Forward at your home course, we urge you to give it a try. Now we have data that shows you’re likely to score better and have more fun. Read that again: You’ll score BETTER and have MORE FUN. (We think you’ll probably play faster, too.)
