f you play golf long enough, eventually someone will tell you a story about something scary or freaky that happened on the course. Maybe it happened to them personally, or it could be a frightening tale passed down through the years.
Perhaps you’ve had your own heart-pounding moment during a round. Whether it’s close calls with nasty weather, run-ins with menacing creatures or something even more ominous, playing golf is not immune to the occasional spine-chilling scenario.
With the scariest night of the year right around the corner, we thought it was a perfect time to ask TGA Members to send us their most terrifying tales from the tee box. It should be noted, when we reach out and ask for content like this, we’re never quite sure what level of response it will garner.
Well, this topic must have struck a raw nerve with many of you. We received nearly 100 submissions that had a chilling mix of frightening and bizarre accounts from the golf course. As a nod to Stephen King (our favorite horror writer), we’ve divided up the best submissions in chapter form over the next few pages.
From nearly falling into alligator-infested waters to finding a dead body in the trees to all kinds of snake confrontations and painful bodily injuries, these first-hand experiences run the gamut on just about everything that could be considered horrific.
