Matt McVey and his wife, Lauren, moved back to their hometown in Harford County, Maryland, after living in the Canton neighborhood of downtown Baltimore for the past eight years. They purchased a mid-century split-level home and are having fun renovating it from the ground up themselves. This year, Matt celebrates his 20th anniversary working for the U.S. Army and is now the chief information officer for a two-star command at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He comes back to the Hill for Homecoming and alumni basketball games annually and gets together with the crew — Eric Byrd ’93, Evan Desatnick, Raphael Taylor ’03, Kash Wright ’99, Carl Taylor, Bob Spruill ’00, and Mike Proto — regularly.
Since our last update, Sarah Mae Harper and her husband, Hugo, bought a condo in Inglewood, California, where they plan to make their forever home. They look forward to hosting many pool parties there. Sarah Mae continues to work as a library manager for Los Angeles County Library and Hugo is back at Inglewood Library. They are celebrating their 10th year of marriage and look forward to all the sunny years to come!
Jessica Lile Posey is living happily in Severna Park, Maryland, with her daughters, Lila and Elena. She returned to T. Rowe Price in 2019 and continues to love the professional challenges and growth there.
Jeff Groff was named 2019 West Virginia Professor of the Year in 2020 and is part of a team that was recently awarded $1.4 million to build an agricultural small business incubator at Shepherd University’s farm. He’s looking forward to the end of his second term as department chairperson and having more time to devote to his cabin build project near George Washington National Forest and organizing field courses for his students, like the one to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks, where they will be developing hardware tools for the Tezos blockchain. He will continue to find joy in caring for his honeybees and growing his recently founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Groff Family Foundation, Inc.
Jeremiah Kelly and his wife, Aimee, celebrated 20 years of marriage in 2022. Jeremiah was recently elected as partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm of Venable LLP, where he practices FDA law. He joined Venable after 12 years at the U.S. Army Medical Research & Development Command at Fort Detrick. Jeremiah and Aimee have five children: Lillian, 17; Rhiannon, 13; Isaiah, 12; Abram, 10; and Elias, 9. They continue to live in the Middletown, Maryland, area where Jeremiah coaches the kids’ baseball and basketball teams, and the family is active in their local church.
Justin King ’02 and I, Gina Rende King, M.L.A. ’07, still reside in Ellicott City, Maryland. Justin continues to work with Aeroseal Windows and Storefront, and I am now serving University of Maryland, Baltimore County as its director of undergraduate admissions and orientation. Our 11-year-old twin sons, Wyatt and Jonathan, keep us busy with ice hockey, football, basketball, and putting new holes in our drywall at any opportunity. The fun really takes shape when we get together with our cousins Ryan Legge ’00 and Kristen Rider Legge ’00, M.S. ’04 in their pool for cannonballs or tearing up the streets of Old Ellicott City. I’m beginning to think it might be true that life starts after 40.
