Beth White Werrell, her husband, and her family have been careful and fortunate enough to be able to stay healthy during the pandemic. She recently retired from her job as a marketing copywriter. She still lives in Carroll County, Maryland, so she is close enough to attend Reunions and gets together with WMC friends. She has been enjoying some of the hobbies she did not have time for while working, namely knitting, crocheting, quilting, and painting! She joined a quilting guild and has been taking workshops on new techniques and creative approaches, plus she is now the vice president of the group. She also joined a painting club and has been learning a lot from it! She and her husband have many trips planned for the next year.
Wayne Reese has had a great start to the year with retirement at the end of January. They also moved from North Carolina to South Carolina to be close to their granddaughter! He retired from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and has many plans to travel with Joan, his wife of 37 years.
Neil Epstein recently sold his home and has moved a few miles away into a great rancher in Bel Air, Maryland, and enjoys the empty nest lifestyle. He travels often to Nashville, Tennessee, and Philadelphia to visit his three daughters. He traveled to Tampa, Florida, this past fall with Hunter Steadley ’81 and Katie O’Dwyer Steadley ’82 to see the Ravens play Tampa and hung out with Scott Kallins ’81 and Steve Asroff ’81 while down there. Life is good and looking forward to seeing a bunch of Dead & Company shows this summer with Rick Watts ’84 and Vince DiRienzo.
Bob Iber and his wife, Roberta, own three dogs and two horses. He continues to work for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (36 years). He is thinking about retiring in a couple years. He started traveling a little more this past year; he has been to Denver and New Orleans and some local trips.
Peggy Stonebeck Beardmore and her husband, Paul, are enjoying his retirement. They welcomed a second grandchild recently and love to help with them. She has been substituting at a local private school that she can walk to and really enjoys it.
As for me, my husband’s band, Bobby and the Believers, has ended but Brad still occasionally plays with the band Radio City. We have two grandsons that live only 30 minutes away, and we feel so blessed to be able to see them so much. One of my greatest joys is running into former students and hearing about the fantastic things they are doing. A few years ago, we started traveling to all the Major League Baseball stadiums, something Bob Iber has already accomplished. We have visited about a third so far. Our mothers are still doing well at 98 and 84 and we visit them often. Our nephew, Cameron Etris ’23, graduated from McDaniel in May.
