Life after college
Brian Martinenza is an owner of Service Unlimited, a commercial HVAC contracting firm, in Wilmington, Delaware. This is his 20th year with the company and his fifth year on the board. He is also the 2024 chairman of the Delaware Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors. Brian reports that he is an active member of Caesar Rodney Rotary Club with his wife of 18 years, Katie. Their four children — Avery, 16; Easton, 14; Bennett, 12; and Sutton, 9 — volunteer with them frequently. Brian keeps in touch with Jamin Bartolomeo ’03 and Kelly Norris ’01.
Elizabeth Wantz Chaney, M.S. ’10 is in her 20th year teaching for Carroll County Public Schools. She is married to Jeff Chaney, and they have three beautiful teenage children. She resides in Taneytown, Maryland.
Lyndsay Bare Kuzmak lives in Finksburg, Maryland, with her husband and four kids (ages 7 to 11). She reports that the kids keep them busy with their extracurricular activities! Dr. Kuzmak owns and operates her family and cosmetic dental practice, LK Dental, LLC, in downtown Westminster. She remains active in the Maryland State Dental Association (MSDA), serving this year as MSDA’s vice president. In addition, she has been elected this year as one of MSDA’s alternate delegates to the American Dental Association’s 2024 House of Delegates.
John Reagan and his wife renewed their vows and celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary in Turks and Caicos with their three sons by their side. John is still in the health care industry, working as an administrator for a neurosurgery group. The couple is busy cheering on their sons during all their activities, which include drums, piano, basketball, soccer, and tae kwon do. Everyone had a blast at Disney World recently.
Beth Chaney and her husband, Noel Schively, continue to live in Catonsville, Maryland. They adopted a pandemic pup, Paloma, who has stolen their hearts and their socks.
Lauri Gann Greenberg reports that last year her family relocated to Rockville, Maryland, for her husband’s job after 10 years in Carroll County. “We are all adjusting well to the more hectic and urban lifestyle,” she says. “But not the traffic!” Lauri left the field of psychotherapy and is teaching part time at a private school and doing event planning for young families. She is pursuing a degree in elementary education with hopes of becoming an education consultant. She says, “When I am not Ubering my children all over town and working, we enjoy spending time at our second home on the Eastern Shore, and we try to go there monthly as a break.” Lauri loves spending time with Karen Whelan Koelemeyer ’05, M.S. ’11 and her family on various outings!
Ryan Melhorn, M.S. ’13 is in his fourth year as the secondary social studies supervisor for Carroll County Public Schools. As part of this role, Ryan is building community partnerships by serving on the outreach committee for the Historical Society of Carroll County and as the co-chair of the Carroll County Celebrating America Committee to plan events and programs that acknowledge Carroll County’s role in history. On March 22, 2023, Ryan and his wife, Cristen Callegary Melhorn ’07, M.S. ’15, welcomed their third child, Mckinley Blake Melhorn. The older siblings — Emersyn and River — are fulfilling their roles as big sister and big brother well. Ryan and his family also welcomed a new golden retriever puppy named Hash (after Hashawha) into their family after the loss of their almost 12-year-old golden retriever, Jaco. Ryan is still involved with his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, and hosts a monthly social networking gathering each month called First Thursday with the Phis at Covalent Spirits in downtown Westminster. In the little free time that Ryan has in between work and family, he enjoys cycling and getting outdoors for his physical and mental wellness.
Heather Sinclair Hylton married Chad Hylton on Oct. 22, 2022. The couple lives in Finksburg, Maryland, with their 4-year-old daughter, Raegan Emory Hylton. Heather says Raegan is “her mommy’s mini, loves animals, and is active in ballet, tap, and T-ball.” Heather just celebrated her 19th year at T. Rowe Price and is currently an assistant vice president working in enterprise risk management. She volunteers as the chapter key advisor for Phi Sigma Sigma and attends events regularly at the college. She is also active in animal rescue as time permits. Heather keeps in touch with fellow Phi Sig sorority sisters April Gelwicks Lambert, Heather Sisman Seabeck ’06, Christy Shaw-DeFelice, Beth Buckheit Comstock, Becky Allen Wallace, and Christina Bandula Storie. She says that she spends time with fellow alum and bestie Heidi Hurtt Evans and their girls are the best of friends also.
Christopher Drupieski was promoted in July 2023 to the rank of professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at DePaul University. He and Jennie Callas ’03 continue to visit Mark Gorman and Libby Wallace Gorman in Westminster, Maryland, several times per year, whenever they’re able to get back to Maryland from Chicago.
Jessica Stinnette Shreve and her husband moved back from West Virginia to York, Pennsylvania, where she is a family medicine physician. The couple now has two children, Alexander and Abigail. They are all busy in sports, traveling to various national parks and keeping busy on their homestead where they have a large garden, fruit orchard, chickens, and a bee apiary.
Lauren Wilson Troha lives in Falls Church, Virginia, with her husband, David, and their two sons, Ian, 7, and Will, 5. She works for Ernst & Young where she leads human capital consulting work for the federal government. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys running, reading, and spending time with good friends, including Liz Bryan Babby ’03. She can’t believe 20 years have passed since graduation!
Beth Harper and her husband, Andy Craig, welcomed their second daughter, Keira Harper Craig, in August of 2022. Beth says that big sister Anya is loving her new role! In November 2023, Beth left her corporate job to pursue freelance graphic design and illustration full time at Beth Harper Design and is loving the creativity she gets to bring into her work and the excitement of running a small business. In her spare time, she continues to enjoy playing music and going to lots of shows with friends and family.
Karin Kauffman Geraci and her three children, Dominic, Josie, and Gio, moved to Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, in April 2023. During that same time, Karin took employment with Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired as their teacher of students with visual impairment (TVI). She also staffs the low-vision clinics for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in cooperation with Clovernook Center. Karin earned a master’s in education for visual impairment in 2000 and has been a practicing TVI since. Her family stays busy with sports and hobbies of all sorts, travel — including Disney World and Topsail Beach, North Carolina — and renovating their home.
Andy Burrows reports that he is currently a branch chief at FEMA, working in Resilience — which he says most people would think of as preparedness. He lives on a 10-acre hobby farm near Warrenton, Virginia. He recently started a side business maintaining roads, driveways, and parking areas for farms and homes in that area.
Christopher Assing reports that he lives in Maryland and after teaching theatre for several years, is now a high school assistant principal in the same school district that he graduated from.
Mark Gorman and Libby Wallace Gorman moved back to Westminster in June 2022 for Mark to begin a new pastoral appointment at Calvary United Methodist Church in Mount Airy, Maryland. Libby started a new job that year as the library media specialist at Northwest Middle School in Taneytown, Maryland. They and their four kids have settled into life in Westminster with the kids involved in theatre, music, baseball, and Young Life. Kids and parents all traveled to France in summer 2023, where they reunited with friends and family while splitting time between Paris, Amboise, Dijon, and Arles. Libby also started a J.D. program online through Vermont Law and Graduate School last fall. They are happy that friends Chris Drupieski and Jennie Callas ’03 make time to visit whenever they are in Maryland, and they enjoyed seeing Rachel Taylor for the first time in many years in fall 2023.
Justin Simon and his wife, Kayla, reside in Timonium, Maryland, with Joel, 5, and Palmer, 2. Justin continues to own and operate Driven Media Group in Hunt Valley, Maryland, and started a software and SMS business for the automotive industry in mid-2023. The couple purchased a vacation home in the Bayside Resort in Delaware and look forward to spending downtime on the golf course and by the pools.
Tom Marshall reports that he and his wife packed up the crew and settled in Easton, Maryland. The family grew with the arrival of a fourth member, a sweet baby girl born in October 2023. Last year, the Radiology Business Management Association unveiled a series of accolades, among which Tom was honored to receive the prestigious National Changemaker Award for 2023. This recognition stands as a pinnacle moment in his professional journey to date.
Tyler Wright and his wife, Tracy, are raising their three daughters in Baldwin, Baltimore County, Maryland. He reports that his three girls keep them very busy with their activities, which include soccer and lacrosse. Tyler was recently promoted to regional president for Shore United Bank’s Annapolis and Baltimore region. He enjoys reuniting every year with many members of our 2004 class to celebrate and honor Dan Waeger.
Tyler Wright and Tom Marshall provided an update for the late Dan Waeger: Dan’s wish for his National Collegiate Cancer Foundation lives on! The fund has issued 750 scholarships and raised $750,000 over 19 years. Join us to celebrate this milestone at the 20th Anniversary Waeger Cup Golf Tournament on Oct. 6, 2024, at The Links in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. As for me, Katie Champion Riley, I accepted a new job two years ago as vice president of communications for the Alliance for Aging Research, an organization dedicated to improving the universal human experience of aging, based in Washington, D.C., My husband, Rick, and I celebrated 15 years of marriage with a bucket list trip to Key West, Florida, in 2022. Our kids — Rickey, 14, and McKenna, 11 — keep us super busy with their sports and activities, several of which we also enjoy coaching. We recently rounded out our family with two rescue puppy adoptions: Brody, 4, and Beau, 1.
