Fostering Future Leaders: Dr. O’Brien shares a heartwarming moment with Eva Ebi, an early childhood student.
Happy Holidays Goose Creek CISD Family,
First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for your ongoing support and partnership in your child’s educational journey this year. Our commitment to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment remains unwavering, and we are excited about the opportunities the fall semester has afforded us.
Our dedicated teaching staff have been working diligently to develop engaging and innovative instructional strategies and lessons that will continue to inspire a love for learning within our students. Clear and open communication is essential for a successful partnership between the school, parents, and stakeholders. We will continue to provide regular updates throughout the school year in newsletters, our website, and our newest two-way platform, ParentSquare.
You may have heard that GCCISD joined several school districts in the state, challenging the commissioner of the Texas Education Agency regarding the new accountability rating.
This is a significant endeavor to ensure fairness in reporting our educational success to our families.
We will never shy away from accountability for our student’s academic progress; however, scoring metrics must be fair and provided before test administration.
As champions for public education, we are concerned with private school vouchers, also known as school choice programs, which allow public funds to be used for tuition at private schools that have no accountability system in place. What will be the accountability oversight for these institutions? Private school vouchers divert taxpayer funds away from public schools, potentially leading to the underfunding of districts like ours.
The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. You have likely noticed our technological improvements, perimeter fencing, and security vestibules. Thanks to our school board, we have added more officers and expanded their training and certifications, all while collaborating closely with all law enforcement agencies in our area.
In conclusion, I am excited about what I see this school year and the opportunities it provides for our students to learn, grow, and thrive. We can continue to make this a successful and fulfilling academic year for all. We wish you and your loved ones a safe and enjoyable holiday season filled with joy, warmth, and cherished moments. May this special time of year bring you peace and happiness, and may the new year be filled with health, prosperity, and endless opportunities. See you in 2024!
Giant regards,
Dr. Randal O’Brien
