The forged performance features of Callaway’s Apex Ai200 and Apex Ai300 irons are available in a limited-edition Black Shadow finish.
The Black Shadow Apex Ai200 – Callaway’s “most complete” players distance iron – and Apex Ai300 (game-improvement iron) include a sleek, chrome-plated black finish.
Apex Ai200 features a hollow-body design that blends performance and precision. The forged hollow body is combined with a forged 455 face cup to create tour-level sound and feel as well as enhanced speed across the face.
Apex Ai300 is a cavity-back design with a slightly larger profile that blends performance and forgiveness. It also features a forged 455 face cup to deliver a unique combination of outstanding speed, feel and consistency for a game-improvement offering.
Both Black Shadow Apex Ai irons ($229 per club; $1,610 per 7-piece set) achieve consistency through Callaway’s Ai Smart Face that uses real golfer swing data combined with artificial intelligence. The dynamic sole design ensures enhanced turf interaction to provide more forgiveness.
“We were relentless in our pursuit of healthy ball flights,” said Brian Williams, Callaway’s vice president of R&D. “We wanted increased launch with high spin, steeper descent angles into greens – we wanted a product that was going to hit to a number with consistency. So, a big focus on carry distance for us, and that’s something that I think will be unique to the Apex line of clubs compared to some of the other clubs in the players’ distance category where you see lots of variation in your overall carry distances.”
