World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will return to action at this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am after a six-week layoff due to injury.
Scheffler suffered a puncture wound while preparing Christmas dinner that required surgery to remove glass from his right hand. His last tournament was the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, which he won on Dec. 8, and his last competitive appearance was in a Dec. 17 made-for-TV match in Las Vegas in which he and Rory McIlroy defeated LIV Golf competitors Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
Former world No. 1 Jordan Spieth, who underwent wrist surgery last August, also will return at Pebble Beach. READ MORE

Joel Dahmen, who was in contention through three rounds at the Farmers Insurance Open before finishing T9, revealed that he had taken a page from Tiger Woods’ book by training with a U.S. Navy SEAL last October. In an interview with CBS Sports’ Amanda Balionis after Friday’s third round at Torrey Pines, Dahmen said his performance coach, Chris Bertram, encouraged the training as a way to increase his mental toughness. “I don’t think I would have gotten through the fall without that training,” said Dahmen, who shot a closing 64 at November’s RSM Classic to keep his PGA Tour card. “I can dig deeper than I thought I could before, and there’s more in there.” READ MORE
The world’s two top-ranked male amateurs – Florida State junior Luke Clanton and Auburn sophomore Jackson Koivun – are closing in on their PGA Tour cards after playing the weekend at the Farmers Insurance Open. Both entered the tournament with 17 points in the PGA Tour University Accelerated program and got to 18 by making the cut at Torrey Pines. Twenty points earns a tour card. Both players are likely to reach that standard by the end of the school year and could join the tour as soon as June, or they could opt to defer, finish college and accept membership when they graduate. That’s the choice Vanderbilt’s Gordon Sargent made, and Koivun has said he’ll do the same. READ MORE
