Cool resident Karen Garcia dominated the field over two days at Corica Park Golf Complex in Alameda.
Garcia, the NCGA’s Senior Women’s Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season, carded rounds of 72-68 on the South and Norse Course, respectively, to come in at 4-under 140 and win the annual PWGA Legacy Open by nine shots over the field.
In Garcia's second round, she had a front-nine 31 with four birdies despite tough pin locations.
A longtime member at Sierra View CC in Rocklin, Garcia’s opening 72 featured an eagle on the par-5 6th on the South Course. A day later on the North Course, Garcia posted seven birdies to go against three bogeys.
Placing second at 149 (72-77) was Kayla Choy of San Francisco. Defending champion Lynne Cowan took third at 153.
The PWGA Open began as the PWGA Championship in 1953. It is a two-day, 36-hole Tournament held annually at various Northern California locations.
