A look at the recently unveiled spring 2025 golf apparel lines leaves no doubt golf fashion is being driven by lifestyle/leisure looks that can be worn not only on the course but for many other daily activities. Items like hoodies, long-sleeve tees and jogger pants are now “par for the course,” representing a trend toward comfort dressing both in golf and mainstream fashion.
“Cross-amenity apparel is driving retail sales at the private club level,” says Emily Gifford, AGM, Director of Retail at Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida. “Members are no longer purchasing golf-specific styles and are seeking apparel that appeals to every aspect of their club lifestyle, especially with versatility in styling and performance fabrics that can be worn from the pickleball court, to the first tee, to the grill room and later to the fitness center.”
According to Justin DeFont, PGA of America Head Professional at Audubon Country Club in Naples, Florida, items like custom club T-shirts and casual hoodies are now golf shop staples. The Audubon shop carries multiple designs from several companies that turn over several times each season, he says, adding, “We are now seeing a more upscale twist on lifestyle pieces with the introduction of cashmere hoodies, $50-plus premium hats and denim as an offering from many manufacturers.”
Among the men’s lines carrying these crossover styles for spring are Holderness & Bourne, whose offering includes updated layering pieces like the Tilley performance blend quarter zip hoodie and new Cameron garment-washed short featuring H&B’s premium cotton/stretch twill fabric, which is soft and has stretch for unrestricted movement.
Rhone, a “mindful” performance lifestyle brand, presents the Golf Tour Trouser with all-way stretch performance in a “vintage finish” for a classic chino look, while Ahead leads with the Flint quarter-zip performance piece with side zip pockets, ocean-washed Levi Tee providing softness for everyday wear and Weston Shacket, a quilted heather knit jacket with snap front and cuffs that offers a combination of style, warmth and comfort. At the same time, Summit Brands is touting lifestyle in B. Draddy’s new yarn-dyed stripe polos in soft organic Peruvian Pima cotton, as well as in Fairway & Greene’s Fair Seas Hybrid Hoodie and Zero Restriction’s signature Power Torque collection of hoodies, full-zips and half-sleeve models.
The spring line from FootJoy offers updated designs, prints and patterns in multiple new hoodies, sweaters and vests, while Harlestons has deepened its layering and outerwear collections with three hoodies and the Yachtsman polo, tee and long-sleeve model. In addition, Antigua presents a new quarter-zip pullover in a tonal heather mesh fabrication with micro pinholes that cool the body, and 7Diamonds features new lightweight layers made from soft cottons, textured knits and airy linens designed for golf and other pursuits.
Patrick Crow, PGA of America Director of Golf at Chicago Highlands Club in Westchester, Illinois, says these types of golf/lifestyle items are becoming more important with each new season, adding, “The more we keep up with the trends, such as more tailored fitting clothes, lifestyle items like hoodies and items that can be used/worn in all aspects of life, the more we are able to be a one-stop-shop for members.”
