The largest municipality within 60 miles of our golf course has less than 7,000 people in it. Sanpete County's entire population is a little less than 30,000, with an average commute of 30-plus minutes to our facility. Salt Lake and Utah County combined have over 1.7 million people, which makes my customer base less than 1.7 percent of courses located in those areas. We have less than 650 square feet of usable sales floor. Despite these difficult hurdles, in our last fiscal year we grossed nearly $175,000 in merchandise sales. Our year-over-year revenue increase has been nearly 15 percent for the last six years, with a 19 percent jump from 2022 to 2023.
Over the past couple years, I have created a new logo, new vision and new idea to drive people to Palisade State Park Golf Course. I want golfers to feel the need to be a part of what Palisade is: “golfing ELEVATED, golfing on the EDGE, feeling EXPOSED, CONQUERING the CANYON.” All these feelings are what we coin as the #PalisadeExperience my staff and I use to solidify sales in the golf shop. There is not a golf course in Utah rated higher on Google than Palisade State Park Golf Course, which is evidence of our success despite the many challenges being in a rural area can have. We sell an experience; the merchandise is just something tangible that can help customers remember the amazing times and memories made at Palisade State Park Golf Course.
