Former Chicago Bear Charles “Peanut” Tillman is doing his part to “punch” through golf’s accessibility barrier.
The former All-Pro cornerback headlined a youth golf clinic conducted at Harborside International Golf Center on Aug. 17 in conjunction with Bank of America and its Golf with Us campaign. More than 60 youngsters from Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metro Chicago received instruction from Tillman and local PGA pros in an effort to expose more juniors to golf and its benefits.
“Golf with Us clinics are so important because they help kids learn life skills like focus, discipline and perseverance,” Tillman, himself an avid golfer, said. “Those lessons help young people thrive not only on the course, but also in their daily lives.”
Golf with Us invites kids ages 6-18 to access tee times for $5 or less at thousands of courses through a Youth on Course membership. To date, nearly 7,400 youth across the Chicago District have become CDGA Youth Members through this initiative and more than 187,000 have signed up nationally.
