As the FedExCup Playoffs got underway in early August, with players ramping up for the season’s final stretch, golfers in the Chicago District were just coming off a busy season of their own. The 2025 CDGA Fantasy Golf presented by Tour Edge campaign, which began in March with The Players Championship, culminated with the AIG British Women’s Open on Aug. 3. Five months' worth of events, picks and prizes solidified yet another successful year of this unique CDGA member benefit.
This year’s schedule again utilized the Majors Challenge platform of online live leaderboards, with CDGA members selecting their teams of 12 golfers from four different player pools. In total, more than 19,000 teams were entered into the seven events on the 2025 schedule - including the four men's majors, women’s U.S. and British Opens, and the aforementioned Players. Winners of each event were awarded Tour Edge Exotics’ newly-launched 525 Series Drivers, while 26 other competitors earned a slew of prizes from the likes of rounds of golf, golf equipment, CDGA merchandise and complimentary Jersey Mike’s subs.
While most of those features were carried over from previous schedules, the new “Top the Teams” concept was introduced this spring. Each Fantasy Golf event included three unique teams selected by the CDGA, Tour Edge and the “CDGA Golf Show” presented by Glenview Park Golf Club hosts Tyler Aki and Mike Gilligan. CDGA members whose selected teams finished ahead of any of those highlighted teams were eligible to win special bonus prizes, providing even more chances for CDGA members to win big.
Speaking of the FedExCup Playoffs, the CDGA Cup, a season-long points race modeled after the professional structure, returned to award points for respective finishes in each event. John Pontikis emerged atop the CDGA Cup standings with 59.81 points following his participation in all seven CDGA Fantasy Golf events during the year. Pontikis utilized high finishes, including a fifth in the U.S. Women’s Open and seventh in the Players, to sit nearly four points clear of the second-place finisher. For his consistency and CDGA Cup title, Pontikis will receive a full set of custom-fit set of Tour Edge Hot Launch 525 irons and woods, along with a fitting and golf bag.
A steadily popular member benefit, CDGA Fantasy Golf will return in the spring of 2026.
