“My job is to deliver your good news. You’re making it easy,” American Gas Association President and CEO Karen Harbert told more than 3,000 people attending the 2019 AGA Operations Conference & Biennial Exhibition, held in Nashville, Tennessee, this past spring.
During her remarks to open the exhibition, AGA’s leader lauded the many ways in which the natural gas industry is making America cleaner, more efficient and economically stronger.
“Families in America are saving an average of $875 every year by being able to use affordable natural gas to heat their homes, to make their breakfast, to do the things that improve their quality of life,” she said.
The country is at its lowest carbon dioxide emissions levels since 1992, and the natural gas industry is the largest contributor to that reduction, she said.
Natural gas has also stimulated the nation’s economy, Harbert said. She highlighted an industry investment of $4 billion in safety alone, translating to 125,000 well-paying jobs and better lives for families.
AGA’s largest forum included more than 1,800 natural gas utility and operations management professionals sharing technical knowledge, ideas and practices. It also featured an exhibition of more than 275 vendors showcasing the innovation of the industry service provider and manufacturing community. —Carolyn Kimmel
