QWhat do you think is the site’s biggest strength?
The diversity and agility of the staff onsite. In the five years I’ve worked at MSD Brinny, there has been significant capital investment resulting in our manufacturing activities transitioning from drug product sterile filling to drug substance vaccine manufacturing. Some of the staff on-site have worked here since before the site transitioned from Schering Plough to MSD, and as a result have vast experience and knowledge; others are like myself and newer to the site and the industry. This mix brings innovation and experience together in our day-to-day activities, allowing us to deliver medicines that have a direct impact on people’s lives.
Q What’s your favourite thing about your workplace?
The people! Personally, I interact with colleagues across all levels of the organisation and find that there is always an opportunity to learn some new insights or ways of working from the people I meet.
Q Can you tell us something we might not know about the site?
Brinny was a key site in the Keytruda (pembrolizumab) journey, commercialising and launching Keytruda lyophilised powder in 2014. It formed part of our of sterile product portfolio until the more recent changes to our manufacturing activities
Q What are some of the best things about the area surrounding the site?
Right next to our site, we have a GAA Sports field, pitch & putt club and recently a soccer sportsground was opened. Brinny is located approx. 30mins drive from Cork city which is a thriving urban area with loads to do and see. Our local village and town are Innishannon and Bandon respectively, and we’re located at the figurative gateway to West Cork — a beautiful part of Ireland that is a well-known part of the Wild Atlantic Way.
