Austin continues to be one of the most exciting cities in the country, with a flurry of new venues, restaurants, hotels and nationally recognized sporting events. Recently listed #10 on CVENT’s Top Meeting Destination, Austin has big developments on the horizon. The destination’s hotel offerings continue to expand, creating an additional 1,800+ rooms by the end of 2025, resulting in a total of 15,700+ rooms downtown and 50,800+ rooms citywide.
Austin has always been an attractive place for meetings and events, but the future looks even brighter for the home of SXSW. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s West Gate Expansion project will add three new gates and new concourse amenities, including an outdoor patio, by 2026. Plus, the highly acclaimed MICHELIN Guide recently included eight Austin hotels on its first-ever list of MICHELIN Key Hotels, and the MICHELIN Dining Guide will launch in Austin this fall.
In 2025, Austin meetings and conventions will change in a big way as the Austin Convention Center begins its $1.6 billion expansion and redevelopment project. The redevelopment will significantly expand the center’s rentable space and is expected to be complete by Q1 2029. While construction is in progress, Austin’s meeting and event providers are creating turn-key campus-style events to accommodate planners’ needs. Take advantage of the city’s walkable neighborhoods, new hotel options, wealth of unique daytime and offsite venues, and ever-increasing flight service to create your most memorable meeting yet.
