Prevue: In terms of meetings and events, what's trending for 2025?
Hud: Second and third-tier destinations with resort amenities and short connections from major markets are set to grow. There's also a trend toward combining business trips with family vacations for better work/life balance. International travel is particularly strong due to its long closure period.
In terms of incentives, what's trending for 2025?
At SITE Classic in Miami, we discussed trends like 1) Destinations not previously used, 2) All-Inclusive Resorts, and 3) Cruises. The latter two are budget-friendly, helping stretch dollars allocated to incentive programs.
As we head into 2025, what are some of the most innovative sustainability efforts you're seeing for meetings and events?
More planners are using “clean” transportation where available, and technology to develop sustainable practices that reduce carbon footprints. There’s a focus on using recyclable products, donating leftover food to shelters, and moving toward "zero waste" initiatives.
What innovations are coming for F&B in 2025?
Local sourcing is growing, with hotels working closely with local chefs and farmers. More plant-based foods are being introduced, and waste reduction is a focus through the use of food waste tracking apps, smart sensors, and predictive analytics. Legacy hotel brands post these initiatives on their websites to showcase their commitment to a more equitable food system.
What are some of the most innovative venues at your property/destination/cruise brand?
Carmel Valley Ranch offers unique amenities like harvesting honey through its beehive program and growing lavender used in their room products.
Short bio about yourself.
I’ve been in the travel industry since college and have worked with Legacy Airlines, Regional Airlines, Tour Operators, and Resort Hotels in Hawaii and Puerto Rico. My current passion is working in the CVB/DMO world, representing Puerto Rico, San Francisco, and now Monterey. I consider it a life well lived.
Describe some of the most innovative meetings/events you've put together and what made them shine?
As a DMO, we don’t plan events but assist with venue selection beyond hotels, ensuring attendees experience all our destination has to offer. We advocate for clients to hold meetings in resort destinations that offer more than just the meeting itself, creating lasting positive experiences.
