It’s All About the Little Things
I have a friend who just returned from her company’s leadership incentive on Cape Cod last week and was just blown away. That’s correct. I said it was last week that they just returned from the Cape and I’m writing this in February. It was held at a gorgeous property, but...brrrr.
She wasn’t talking about the destination, or the resort, as much as the experience—and all the thoughtful, little touches her company included. For one, they upgraded everyone to suites overlooking the ocean (which you can afford to do during off-season). Each night, there was a beautiful gift in the room. They had inquired in advance about her beverage preference, and there it was, waiting for her. And they built in free time for everyone—an afternoon to go shopping and a $50 AMEX card to spend. Best of all, she had a chance to mingle with the C-suite.
She left that trip already looking forward to next year—and that is the power of incentive travel.
As an editor who’s had the chance to write about incentive travel and also to experience those personal touches over the years during my travels with incentive planners, I’m convinced that the little things can be a big part of delivering VIP treatment.
As we plan Prevue’s events, we're constantly seeking out those partners to help us deliver an unforgettable experience. This year, we are partnering with a company called Box the City for our amenities. They source locally made gifts and makers from the city where you are meeting and create a one-of-a-kind selection for your group. We are also including individual career coaching and a scent experience as part of our appointment sessions. Incentive travel is the focus of this month’s cover story by Senior Contributing Editor Regina Baraban, focusing on sought-after destinations for incentive winners including Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa and Aruba.
This jam-packed issue also puts the focus on new offerings in both the Southeast and Northeast U.S., as well as Texas and gets the 411 on what’s happening in the cruise landscape when it comes to meetings and incentives. The March/April issue is also brimming over with “on locations”—Seven Seas Grandeur, San Diego, Healdsburg, The Palm Beaches, Bradenton, Orlando, Australia, Las Vegas, Sands Resorts Macao, The Langham, New York and World Equestrian Center.
Enjoy the issue. —Barbara Scofidio
