Welcome home (on the range) to the Frontier’s best-kept secret! Disney Vacation Club McKim’s Mile House – A Member Lounge is now open in the heart of Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park, inviting eligible* Members to rest their boots in cozy quarters inspired by Mile Houses that preceded hotels in the American West. Legend has it this one’s run by the McKim family – hospitality pioneers who’ve accommodated everyone from Diamond Horseshoe Jamboree performers to the president of the Big Thunder Mining Company. (While those McKims may be imagined, the space offers numerous nods to the late – and very real – Disney Legend Sam McKim, whose vision and artistry helped shape Frontierland and other iconic Disney places.) See if you can spot the five details we altered in this photo of Members’ new digs for this edition of “Picture This.”
ANSWERS: From left to right, (1) floral designs within a wallpaper stripe (upstairs between clothing hanging from railings) have become horseshoe designs, (2) upholstery on a chair back just to the right of that wallpaper stripe has a new Western pattern, (3) just down the railing from a dangling scarf, a cowboy’s jeans now hang from a post, (4) an additional framed picture has joined the gallery on the wall along the stairs, and (5) the painting of the Mile House framed above the fireplace has been replaced with a photo of one of The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
