Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival
Inspired by the recent run of the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival (winding down as this magazine hits the press), Disney Files Magazine shares the recipe for a springtime sip that debuted at the festival back in 2018. The refreshing recipe comes courtesy of The Official Disney Parks Cookbook by Pam Brandon and the Disney Chefs. Featuring “101 Magical Recipes from the Delicious Disney Vault,” the book includes recipes for drinks and dishes from Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Cruise Line ships and Disney Vacation Club Resorts.
Beverage ingredients (serves 1):
7 ounces lemonade
1 ounce watermelon syrup
Lemon and watermelon slices for garnish
Optional rim-seasoning ingredients (serves 1):
1 tablespoon chipotle or chili powder
1 teaspoon lime zest
Cayenne, coriander, cumin, salt and sugar to taste
Small dish of lemon juice (to dip rim of glass)
Steps:
If you plan to rim your glass with seasoning (if not, skip to step 3), mix together your seasoning ingredients in a bowl. Add some habanero sugar if you’re feeling fancy.
Dip rim of drinking glass in lemon juice, then in your seasoning mix.
Combine lemonade and watermelon syrup in shaker with ice. Strain into drinking glass, and add ice.
Garnish with lemon and watermelon slices, and enjoy!

Speaking of tempting tastebuds at Disneyland Resort, here’s the latest “dish” about new dining developments underway in the Downtown Disney District.
Later this spring, the heart of the district is scheduled to debut a trio of concepts from Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán. The Paseo upstairs dining room, and first-floor Céntrico courtyard bar and restaurant will offer upscale Mexican cuisine and tequilabased cocktails, while next door, Tiendita will offer Chef Gaytán’s Mexican-heritage flavors on the go, with quick-service, Mexican street-food staples.
New details also have emerged about the previously announced Parkside Market, a new Downtown Disney dining destination that will house a curated collection of four culinary concepts from Levy Restaurants. We now know that those concepts will include Seoul Sister, a fast-casual modern eatery featuring a Korean-forward menu; Sip & Sonder, serving fresh lattes, treats, frozen drinks and Caribbean-inspired bites; GG’s Chicken Shop, offering chicken sandwiches, salads and classic dinner table sides; and a second-story bar pairing appetizers with signature craft cocktails and mocktails.
Fan-favorite Earl of Sandwich, meanwhile, will relocate from its temporary spot on the district’s east end to an all-new, twostory location planed for the district’s Esplanade, with a quickservice sandwich shop on the ground level and a table-service gastropub upstairs.
