Number of Americans who participated in golf during 2020, an increase of 8% from 2019, according to the National Golf Foundation. That number was comprised from three categories of golfers: 1) those who only played at green-grass golf courses; 2) those who only played at off-course facilities (such as driving ranges, simulators and golf-themed entertainment venues); and 3) those who played at both types of facilities.
Approximately 24,800,000 of the total participation number either played golf at only green-grass courses or at green-grass and off-course facilities. That group accounted for the largest net increase in golf participation in 17 years.
There were about 12,100,000 Americans who only experienced golf in 2020 at a driving range or off-course facilities. Here’s hoping most of those make their way to a green-grass golf course this year.
