Dear Hermann Park Golf Course in Houston,
Thank you for hiring Ms. Maulana Dotch as your General Manager. She has come in and made immediate improvements that all the regulars have noticed, and we love them.
She makes all of us feel welcome because she’s so hands-on. If you don’t see her in the clubhouse, then you will see her on the course before your round is over. Everyone wants to have a say in what can be done to improve the golf experience, and Ms. Dotch always is available to hear your recommendations and suggestions.
Although some things might not be feasible, it’s just nice to have someone willing to hear what you have to say. It’s also nice to see the number of kids on the course getting instruction from her. It kind of makes you feel like you’re a part of seeing the next generation of golfers begin their journey.
Seeing that golf is accessible, and even more importantly, that golf is even possible for the kids, is extremely heartwarming. That is a part of Hermann Park that Ms. Dotch has brought to this municipal golf course. All golf courses should probably embrace making their courses user-friendly, especially to the next generation of golfers. And for a muni, that should probably be the top priority.
Ms. Dotch not only talks the talk, but she walks the walk. I’m happy to say that I consider Hermann Park my home course, and I’m proud to say that I know the GM Maulana Dotch.
Love,
Johnnie McFarland
To Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land,
What a challenging and awesome golf course you are! I have been a member for over 25 years, and it never gets old playing each time. Of course, there are some holes that continue to vex me, but that is the fun and challenge of playing the game.
My very best friends are all my Riverbend golf girls, and we are continually grateful to have the outlet to play and celebrate the good shots, as well as commiserate over the bad days “at the office!”
We have a very hard-working, professional staff and a course superintendent who works side by side with his crew each day to keep our course a beautiful place. I love my Riverbend!

Dear Wichita Falls Country Club,
I can’t say enough about our golf pros and pro shop workers who have helped me when I rejoined the club after living in Austin for over 20 years. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has been as kind and as helpful as could ever be expected.
Thanks to Mark, Jerry, Clayton, Bobby and Kevin, among many others, all the way down to the bag boys, whose names I can’t remember. Thanks to Russell, Brenda Joe, Shorty, and Chef for making our dining experience ALWAYS top-notch.
Just an overall great experience. Thanks!

Dear Pecan Valley Golf Course in Fort Worth,
I have been playing these courses (River and Hills) since 1964, one year after their opening and Son Taylor was the club pro. That I am still playing frequently is a testament to my love of these courses.
I’ve had my lowest score there and one of my two eagles. There’s got to be a hole-in-one out there for me, but we haven’t met yet.
Old golfers don’t die, they just fade away.
