ore than two-thirds of U.S. public golf courses raised their green fees in 2021 as demand increased during the pandemic, according to research by the National Golf Foundation. During the past two years, golfers are playing more often, former golfers have returned to the game, and beginners have flocked to the fairways in an optimistic side effect of the Covid-19 era.
Despite the hike in prices, the average rate for a round of golf at a public course in the U.S. remains affordable at about $38, according to the NGF. Even better (and quicker!) is the average price for a nine-hole round is just $21.
When you compare those costs to other outdoor experiences, such as skiing, attending theme parks, concerts or professional sporting events, golf stands tall as an affordable option in addition to being a healthy pursuit.
