The upper nine floors of One Paddington Square, a 17-floor mixed-use commercial complex and “glass cube” designed by Renzo Piano and located atop London’s rail network, has a new look due to an enhanced lighting scheme by DesignPlus-Light. Working in conjunction with leading architect TP Bennett, the firms were tasked with creating breakout food/beverage and leisure spaces on each floor that blended into open-plan offices and glass-partitioned meeting rooms. The project’s steel and glass construction provides plenty of daylight as well as a 360-deg panoramic view of London Town.
Curved lines and suspended acoustic-lined panels provide visual anchors and distinguish breakout areas of respite from the regimented office structure.
The 150-seat video conferencing auditorium is illuminated with tunable-white LEDs to allow for presentation across multiple visual materials while linear lighting within the paneled ceiling provides the stage with facial light.
A custom, metallic chandelier of suspended rods spans a bar and hospitality area to match the brand identity of a corporate client and evoke the visuals of floating clouds or a flock of birds.
Hidden light sources offering indirect illumination allow light and material to blend into one construction in the nine-floor internal stair.
