There is joy in Niceville, FL, these days! The town and the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee are celebrating the opening of a new Catholic school, Holy Family Catholic Academy. The new K-3 school opening was celebrated with superintendent Michael Juhas, founding principal Felisha Carnley, the Bishop of Pensacola- Tallahassee, William A. Wack, CSC, and the local community. Bishop Wack invited all the families from the surrounding parishes to consider the opportunity to enroll their children at Holy Family. “Enrolling your child in Catholic school is not just an educational decision—it’s a lifelong investment in their spiritual and moral foundation,” he explained.

Blessings abound for the Billings Catholic Schools’ students, parents, and staff who recently experienced their Jubilee pilgrimage in Italy over the summer! The group started their journey exploring the Colosseum and the ancient Roman ruins. They followed the traditional route of the Seven Pilgrim Churches and visited the Scala Sancta—the Holy Stairs believed to be the very steps Jesus climbed to face Pontius Pilate. They celebrated Mass right next to the tomb of Saint Peter and had the chance to climb the dome for breathtaking views of the city. A private tour of the Sistine Chapel and exploring the ancient catacombs rounded out their time in Rome, and then on to Assisi!

Notre Dame School in Kerrville, TX, was the drop-off point for essential supplies for those affected by the summer flooding in Texas. John Paul II High School, Bishop Lynch, Bishop Dunne, and Highlands School packed school buses with essentials such as non-perishable foods, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, baby necessities, paper products, and even pet supplies. The relief drive was tagged as “Fill the Bus for Kerr County” and was a huge success, where every donor and donation reinforced what it means to live out our Catholic values of compassion, service, and community.

Julia Casama, from St. Benedict at Auburndale, was among the selected athletes from around the country nominated for Youth Athlete of the Year through Colossal, a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need through online competitions, such as Youth Athlete of the Year, in partnership with Sports Illustrated. Julia just missed the top spot, coming in third, but remains a fierce competitor as a member of St. Benedict’s Bowling Team. She averaged a DII-best 176 last season and was chosen as Girl Bowler of the Year by The Commercial Appeal and won the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) State Individual Championship. Schoolmate Jackson Roberts won first place in the Boys DII Individual Championships, making them both the best bowlers in the state in their division. The Daily Memphian recognized the St. Benedict team with the Tennessee Sportswriters Association (TSWA) All-State Bowling Team for Division II.
