As Medical Protection's key representative in Hong Kong, I am dedicated to ensuring that my team and I engage with industry stakeholders and actively listen to their feedback through regular meetings and industry exchanges across the region. Here are some reflections on the past year:
It has been an honour to collaborate with both HKU MED and Chinese University of Hong Kong MED in representing Medical Protection and awarding the MPS Prize for medical students. The year 2024 has been remarkable, as we launched the MPS Prize while celebrating 70 years of Medical Protection’s commitment to our members in Hong Kong.
The MPS-HKU Med Patient Safety and Ethics Essay Prize, along with the MPS Prize in Bioethics with Chinese University of Hong Kong, emphasises the importance of ethics and professionalism for medical students and young doctors. We firmly believe that the best support comes through knowledge exchange, actively promoting the significance of patient safety and clinician wellbeing, which is vital for our next generation.
Since its inception in 2020, the Medical Protection Hong Kong office has focused on better serving our members. The office oversees member services and activities, identifies educational needs, and assists members with their requests when they are in need.
One thing will remain unchanged as we reflect on our 70th anniversary: as a not-for-profit, member-owned organisation, we prioritise actively listening to our members and the industry. We strive to address the needs for policy changes and ensure that our members' voices are heard, providing them with peace of mind when they need it most while caring for patients.
