On June 16-17, the Women’s Met Amateur Championship debuted its new format as a 54-hole event, with winner Olivia Deakins of Ardsley Country Club making the most of the now multi-day event.
After a 4-over 77 in the opening round, Deakins was dialed in on the final 36-hole day. The 20-year-old carded a championship-low 4-under 69 in the morning followed by a 2-under 71 on Tuesday afternoon, turning a five-shot deficit into a two-shot victory.
Deakins tallied 12 birdies on the final day, leading her to a championship-best 15 over the two days.
The Women’s Met Amateur was previously contested as a one-day, 18-hole stroke play event. As a multi-day, 54-hole championship, it is now eligible to be a World Amateur Golf Ranking point-receiving event. This year’s field had 63 registrants – nearly 20 more than 2024 – and featured 10 players that competed in the 2024 U.S. Women’s Mid-Am.
