PARTING SHOT
Dame Laura Davies of England hoists the trophy at the 1987 U.S. Women’s Open Championship at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J., after emerging victorious in a playoff over Ayako Okamoto of Japan and JoAnne Carner of the U.S. Davies became the fourth international winner of the championship and would go on to win three more major championships over the next decade, including the LPGA Championship and the then-major du Maurier Classic (now Canadian Women’s Open). The 2026 U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally will take place at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles June 2–7.
