After completing his Fulbright grant in Taiwan, Thomas Becskehazy is living in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he is Arizona State University’s chief country representative. He helps manage USAID’s Higher Education Partnership Initiative, which creates partnerships and pathways between Indonesian and American universities. When he’s not in the office, Tom enjoys going scuba diving among Indonesia’s 17,000 islands, eating delicious and spicy Indonesian food, and trying not to melt in the 90-degree tropical heat and humidity.
Nia Clements Fratrik went back to school and received her master’s degree in Education from Cedar Crest College in 2021. She then received a full-time contract with Parkland School District in Pennsylvania as a Spanish teacher at the district high school teaching grades nine through 12. Nia returned to school again this fall at Kutztown University to pursue her doctorate in Transformational Teaching and Learning.
Jeremy Keil and his family live near Milwaukee but usually escape to Orlando for a week each winter. Jeremy and Robyn enjoy working out together, and Jeremy tries to road bike 30-plus miles every weekend from May through August. Their children (Emery, 12, and Harper, 9) play soccer and basketball and swim. Jeremy (guitar) and Emery (singing) just made their debut on the church worship team last summer! And they welcomed their newest family member on New Year’s Eve 2022: Charlie, the mini labradoodle!
Amy Davidson Latta is still combining her love for art with her English degree as a published author. Her eighth book, “Doodle Everything,” released in October 2022, is available online and in bookstores across the country. In addition to her books, Amy shares inspiration on her website amylattacreations.com, in classes at venues like Pinners Conference, and via segments on lifestyle television shows across the country. She also partners with Hearts Need Art, a nonprofit organization that provides creative opportunities for patients facing life-altering health challenges. From February to May of 2023, Amy led an initiative that collected over 4,000 handmade hearts from creatives all over the country, which were then distributed to hospital patients and their caregivers. Amy and her husband live in Carroll County, Maryland, with their two teenaged sons.
Jonathan Soucy has settled in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, with his wife, Kerri Fisher Soucy ’03. They welcomed their third daughter, Juliet, in June 2021. Jonathan is an executive at a software company and devotes all his time outside of work to his three daughters (ages 8, 5, and 2). They love getting back to the Hill and recently visited with their children in October 2022 to show them all around the campus.
Aloha from Hawaii, where Jason Wingeart and his wife, Tiffany Putro Wingeart ’03, and their two children have lived for the past three years. Jason works for Joint Task Force-Red Hill, which is responsible for defueling a WWII-built underground fuel facility on Oahu. He was selected for promotion to colonel and the Senior Service College, which will start in the summer of 2024. When not at work, he spends his time coaching his boys in soccer and flag football.
For me, Emily Wilson Rollins, the past two years have been about keeping our family routine going with work and school while getting our daughters back into more activities. My husband, Ellis Rollins, and I spend time watching our oldest, Sophia, play tennis and our youngest, Juliet, play travel softball year-round. This past spring, I was fortunate enough to take Sophia on a high school trip to Paris, the South of France, and Northern Italy. It was the first trip to Europe for both of us, and we can’t wait to go back someday with Ellis and Juliet. I’m happy to report that I have a nephew in his sophomore year at McDaniel and that I employed a McDaniel student as an intern in my department at Mount Saint Joseph High School. It’s always a pleasure to witness the positive experiences of this generation of young people at our alma mater.
