Nelly Korda will seek to tie the LPGA record for most consecutive victories this week when she headlines the field for the women’s tour’s first major championship of 2024.
Korda, the winner of four consecutive starts, will be the favorite when play begins Thursday at the Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas. The 25-year-old American, who tops the Rolex Rankings, has been unbeatable in 2024, dating to the LPGA Drive On Championship on January 28 in her hometown of Bradenton, Florida. After sitting out the LPGA’s three-stop Asia Swing, she ran off victories at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, the Ford Championship and the T-Mobile Match Play.
A victory this week in suburban Houston would elevate Korda on a par with LPGA legends Nancy Lopez and Annika Sörenstam, who share the tour’s consecutive-victories streak at five.
Korda, a 12-time winner on the LPGA, will be among 34 major champions entered, including defending champion Lilia Vu, who was Global Golf Post’s 2023 women’s player of the year. READ MORE and MORE / FIELD LIST
