Titleist released its reformulated next generations of Tour Speed and Tour Soft golf balls, offering the same aerodynamic options in both its multilayer and large-core balls.
The reformulated Tour Speed, with its multilayer core and proprietary Titleist Performance Urethane cover, produces consistently fast speed, penetrating flight and short-game control.
The high-speed, high-compression core delivers maximum distance on full-swing shots while a proprietary high-flex casing layer maintains low long-game spin. It features a 346 quadrilateral dipyramid dimple design, a combination engineered to generate a penetrating, consistent flight as well as optimized greenside spin for short-game control.
The third-generation Tour Soft golf ball now features the same dimple pattern as the Tour Speed for longer distance off the tee combined with a large, fast core for a responsive soft feel. While it may have the same aerodynamic package, the Tour Soft will fly slightly lower due to the large 1.600-inch soft core.
“We never planned to put the same pattern on the Tour Soft, and we looked at a multitude of other dimple counts and patterns within the same family that might work better,” said Mike Madson, Titleist senior director, research and engineering. “But when it came to optimized ball flight and total performance, the 346 quadrilateral dipyramid pattern was clearly the best.”
Such a large core requires an extremely thin cover. The 4CE grafted cover helps generate reliable greenside spin for short-game playability.
The Tour Speed retails for $40 per dozen while the Tour Soft runs $35. Both are available in white and yellow.
