For the second time in three years, mid-amateur Lauren Greenlief won the Amateur Golf Alliance Women’s Amateur Championship. Greenlief, the 2015 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion from Ashburn, Virginia, defeated Allison Gonring of Cincinnati in a one-hole playoff to claim the title. They finished the 54-hole event at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, Texas, at 2-over-par 218.
Gonring posted the low round of the day, 4-under 68, to gain the playoff. An untimely bogey on the first playoff hole enabled Greenlief to win again. Greenlief won the inaugural tournament in 2020 and finished runner-up last year.
Decorated amateur Ellen Port of St. Louis posted 3-over 219 to win the senior division by a shot over Kathy Hartwiger of Birmingham, Alabama. Port made a birdie on the final hole to avoid a playoff and claim the title.
The Amateur Golf Alliance was established to conduct the Concession Cup Matches as well as other events and initiatives to promote the amateur game at the highest level of competition. For more information, click HERE.
