NorCal amateur greats Tina Barker and Jeff Burda, former Cal-Berkeley women’s golf head coach Nancy McDaniel and longtime NCGA volunteer Bruce Baker will be honored as the 13th NCGA Hall of Fame class in a ceremony to be held Oct. 16 at Silverado Resort.
Barker, among other achievements, has won the PWGA Legacy Open a record 12 times over three decades and in 2010 and 2011 captured back-to-back California Senior Women Amateur titles. Burda has amassed a record 13 NCGA Senior titles and has three Player of the Year crowns as a senior. And he remains the only player ever to win an NCGA title in six different decades. The two will be inducted in the Player Achievement category.
McDaniel, who retired from her position at Cal earlier this year, was team captain and an All-American during her playing days at the University of Washington. As the coach at Cal, McDaniel, who is being recognized in the Lifetime Achievement category, led the Golden Bears to appearances in 10 NCAA Championships and 22 NCAA Regionals.
Baker, who will receive the Distinguished Service Award, has not only been a volunteer tournament official for almost 30 years since 1996 but was also instrumental in the founding of Youth on Course in 2006.
