NorCal native Bryson DeChambeau returned to the winner’s circle with a victory in South Korea.
DeChambeau, a former Player of the Year on the Junior Tour of Northern California, carded a final round 6-under 66 to win the LIV Golf Korea presented by Coupang Play.
The win was DeChambeau’s third on the LIV Golf circuit, but first since 2023.
It also snapped a trend the Clovis native wanted nothing to do with. Prior to the win, DeChambeau had struggled on Sunday. In two previous LIV Golf events in Miami and Mexico City he led after 36 holes before losing. There was also the recent Masters, where he led with 16 holes left before faltering.
“I feel like I’ve been playing some great golf, but I just haven’t gotten the job done,” said DeChambeau, who is set to defend his U.S. Open title in June. “That was a lot of tension. Just glad I was able to step up to the plate and get it done. … I was personally pretty nervous on the front nine for whatever reason. … Finally on 17, the bubble burst and I felt really good.”
