There are five new professionals who will help lead ACUHO-I into the future. The positions filled during this election cycle were Vice President (three-year presidential cycle), Inclusion and Equity Director (two-year term), Regional Affiliations Director (two-year term), Residence Education Director (two-year term), and Workforce Development Director (three-year term).
Gay Perez was elected Vice President. This marks a return to the Executive Board as Perez, the assistant vice president of student affairs and executive director of housing and residence life at the University of Virginia, previously served as the Residence Education Director. In addition, Perez has served on the ACUHO-I Re-Entry to Fall 2021 Workgroup; served as a mitigation strategies subcommittee member on the ACUHO-I Future of Housing Workgroup; served as an international faculty member for the ACUHO-I Global Housing Training Institute, in Geelong, Victoria, Australia; and was a global faculty member for the ACUHO-I Roelf Visser Student Housing Training Institute in South Africa. She has also served as chair of the ACUHO-I Foundation.
Yettieve Marquez-Santana was elected Inclusion and Equity Director. She is the central assistant director for residential life and housing experience at New York University. Marquez-Santana has served as chair of the ACUHO-I Professionals of Color Network and chair-elect of the ACUHO-I Multicultural Network.
Nyerere M. Tryman was elected Regional Affiliations Director. He is the director of housing operations at The University of Alabama. Tryman has served as president of the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO), as a member of the ACUHO-I Program Committee and the ACUHO-I Exhibits Committee for the Annual Conference and Expo, and as a member of the participant selection and outreach team for the James C. Grimm National Housing Training Institute.
Bobbie D. Cole was elected to the position of Residence Education Director. She is the assistant vice president of student life at William Peace University. Previously, Cole served as a member on the community and belonging subcommittee of ACUHO-I’s Future of Housing Workgroup. She also served as chair of GLACUHO’s Inclusion and Equity Committee.
Finally, Stephanie Lynch was elected Workforce Development Director. She is the assistant vice president for student affairs at Georgetown University. Her previous association involvement includes serving as chair of ACUHO-I’s Mid-Level Leadership Institute and as chair of WACUHO’s New Professionals Committee.
These newly elected Board members will begin their terms January 1, 2022.
ACUHO-I Foundation Announces New Trustees
Four new professionals will help build and guide the Foundation starting in January 2022. The positions filled in this election cycle were Chair Elect, Vice Chair of Individual Outreach and Giving, Vice Chair of Industry Partner Outreach and Giving, and Vice Chair of the Regional Cabinet.
Patricia Martinez was elected Chair Elect for the ACUHO-I Foundation. She currently is the assistant vice president for student affairs and director of operations at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Through her career she has held a number of volunteer positions within the Association including, most recently, as president of the ACUHO-I Executive Board.
Liz Ingrao was elected Vice Chair of Individual Outreach and Giving. She is the associate director of residence life at the University of Miami. Ingrao has served as a volunteer with the ACUHO-I Foundation, as well as SEAHO. She will work with the ACUHO-I Foundation to help bring awareness and opportunities to the membership to cultivate engagement and enthusiasm.
Peter Isaac was elected Vice Chair of Industry Partner Outreach and Giving. He is the executive vice president for campus partnerships for the student living division of CA-Ventures. Isaac has served as an ex-officio member of the trustees and will work to create opportunities for industry partners to meaningfully engage with ACUHO-I.
Timothy Touchette was elected Vice Chair of the Regional Cabinet. He is the assistant dean of student affairs at Brandeis University. Touchette has been filling a vacancy on the Foundation and has served as a trustee for the past year; however, he is now appointed in this role for a three-year term. He will work with the regional association representatives to build strong connections with ACUHO-I.
